Clarity is Power & Possibility

A few days ago something came up when I was searching for what to have in mind when writing a book and one that always comes up is: why does the world need this book? What makes it different?
And, if I think from a place of authenticity, I guess that the reason I believe having a purpose is so important is because it shapes everything around you. I mean, everything.

When you have clarity about the reason you exist, what you want to create into the world shapes everything in your life. The community you’re inserted in, your relationships, your intimacy, your work, your energy levels, your motivation to get out of bed, the drive to create things, the way you see the world, your contribution to help, the way you eat, the way you sleep, the way you exercise, how you interact with others, literally everything.

Sometimes I wonder what percentage of suicides and people diagnosed with depression is actually due to “lack of purpose”. I read somewhere that depression comes from the word “deprimere”, which means to repress, to put down. If this is true, then, what are people diagnosed with depression “repressing”? Have they repressed their emotions, who they are, what they want and need for so long that they come to a point where they don’t how to get out of it anymore?

I honestly believe that self awareness is the answer for so many problems. SO MANY.
Clarity is, indeed, power. When we know what we like, how we feel about certain things, where we want to go, how we want to live, everything gets “easier”. I put easier in between commas because it doesn’t actually become easier, I guess the correct word would be simpler. Yes, it becomes simpler. It gives us options. It gives us a path to follow.
I guess having options and a clear path to follow is better than being completely in the dark though. I’ve been completely in the dark for so many years and I assure you it’s not fun or a good place to be. I don’t know if we ever have clarity over the complete path, but if everyday I have the next step unfolded, then I see that as a huge blessing. Some days I just need to get out of the house and unfold it one second at a time. Some days it's all we get.

It’s what I’ve been asking for in my prayers for several years now, clarity.

If by any chance you are in a dark place, not sure whether you should turn right or left, focus on what the next right step should be.
If there’s something I could say really helped me was to look inwards and start asking questions like:
  • what would I REALLY like to do?
Try to take the money out of it for now, expectations of others for you, what you SHOULD be doing. That doesn’t matter now. Simply focus on something that would bring you joy. This could be something in the realm of passions, talents, dreams…they exist for a reason. Notice what feelings emerge, how your body reacts to these desires and then close your eyes for a moment and just imagine how your life would look like if that was your reality.
I'd love to hear from you. What role does purpose play in your life today? (Find my email and social media on the website).
